The Oselli Clubman that traveled around the US.
And that was English big gallons; e.g. 46 mpg in US gallons.

I have to recuse myself from this puzzle. The Duke brought it up at the Christ the King show. Just remember that I can be bought. Don

If "mini" in the initial question rather than "Mini" is a clue there are a couple of other possibilities.

English Moke came to mind, but never over 50 mpg (at least on US gallons) and the English ones were actually single seaters with all three of the other seats as options.

Is it just me, or is anyone else concerned to what may have happened to MrBoring? He was giving a clue a day and then all of a sudden, gone! Should we form a search party? What does he look like? Has he paid his dues? What should we do...

Back in the day, there was a bumper sticker, "Discover America. Get Lost On a Rallye." Maybe that's what happened.

It must be the Mini in the really old ad with Wilt Chamberlain. I can't remember what it was for but they took the front seat out and made it look like he was driving from the back seat with his head sticking out the sunroof!!! Maybe the ad was for fish oil!!
