View Full Version : Shock absorber?

I have a '67 standard Mini with Hydrolastic suspension. The front shocks look original so I will replace them. I checked the back shocks and instead saw what look like two long skinny springs, one on each side. Is that a shock absorber? Can they be replaced with a conventional shock or do I just leave them alone and they last forever? I was kind of surprised to see this, I forgot about them when I first inspected the car. Not sure what role the Hydrolastic suspension plays in this.

Your helpful advice appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig

Okay I think I figured out that the rear spring can only be replaced with another rear spring.

Seems to be some controversy about my car having shocks in the front, they are there, but apparantly aren't supposed to be?

Help!

Okay, never mind on this one, I talked to Chuck, seems someone put on some front shocks as a supplement. Now it all makes sense.
