I'm re-doing my rear brakes (75 MKIII 1000 w/ 10" wheels) and I need to have my drums resurfaced/turned down. Does anyone know the min. thickness (I'm not sure if that is the correct phrasing) the drums can be before they need to be replaced?

I've tried looking it up in a couple of books and my owners manual and I can't seem to find it anywhere, but I want to make sure I'm armed with this bit of info so that I can give it to the guy at the machine shop. I'm already expecting a "what the...." type reaction when I bring in my tiny drums.

Also, I'm assuming that Heritage is the cheapest place to buy the pads, etc.., but if anyone knows of a better deal, let me know.

Dick Larson will turn your drums without laughing at you and can reline your existing shoes. He will also "arc" (shape) the lining to fit the drums.
If your shoes, the metal part, are toast I've got spares you can have.
