  • Rough idle and whistle at startup

Technical question: I broke my header and replaced the whole exhaust. The header had to be removed through the top of the engine requiring the air filter to be removed and reinstalled. Now I have a tea kettle like whistle and rough idle when I start the car up. Itís an SPI model. I replaced the vacuum hose on the backside of the throttle body but that didnít help.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

Took the NAPA vacuum hose off and reinstalled the original one. That cleared up the whistling, but I still have a rough cold engine idle.

Ok, purrs like a kitten now. I had some hose leftover from when I rehosed my Cooper that fit perfectly. I couldn’t change the vacuum hose that leads to the bottom of the ECU though because I couldn’t get my hand under there or get the bottom ECU mounting screw off because I couldn’t get at it. Any tips on replacing this hose?
